Information for Candidates Applying to Programs with an English Medium of Instruction:
Candidates applying for transfer for the programs whose medium of instruction is English must meet the foreign language exemption requirement. Those who meet one of the following requirements are exempt from the English Proficiency Exam:
- Those who have passed the proficiency exam conducted by Istanbul Medeniyet University School of Foreign Languages in the last three years.
- Those who have received a score at the level determined by the Senate based on the exam validity periods determined by the relevant institutions conducting the exam and the equivalence tables determined by OSYM from national or international standard exams whose equivalence is accepted by OSYM and YÖK. - Students who have studied in a country where the foreign language specified as the language of instruction is spoken as a mother tongue, in secondary education institutions attended by citizens of that country, and who can prove that they have completed at least the last three years of their secondary education in these institutions.
Candidates who cannot meet the exemption requirements listed above;
- must take the English Proficiency Exam to be held by our University's School of Foreign Languages on August 20-21, 2024 at Tuzla/Orhanlı Campus. Candidates (except those applying to the English Language Teaching Department) must receive a score of 70 in order to pass this exam. The passing grade for students of the English Language Teaching Department is 80.
- must pay attention in that the procedures are different for students applying for transfer, double major and minor programs, and the following explanations must be read carefully.

- Only candidate students who apply for 1st or 2nd year transfer (with Additional Article-1) and cannot meet the foreign language exemption requirement will take the DBS. Candidates who apply for 3rd or 4th year transfer or apply under one of the other application types (excluding Additional Article-1) do not need to take the DBSand these students will be taken directly to the Proficiency Exam (IMU-YS).

- Students who apply for 1st or 2nd year transfer and get 80 and above in DBS will be eligible to take the English Proficiency Exam to be held on August 20-21, 2024. Candidate students who apply for 1st or 2nd year transfer and fail the English Proficiency Exam and whose application results are positive will start studying in the preparatory class in the 2024-2025 Academic Year.
- Students who have already failed the preparatory class and exhausted their rights for 2 years at the institution they came from cannot study in the preparatory class again. They must pass the Foreign Language Proficiency Exam to be held by our university or receive a score at the level determined by the Senate based on the exam validity periods determined by the relevant institutions conducting the exam and the equivalence tables determined by ÖSYM from national or international standard exams whose equivalence is accepted by ÖSYM and YÖK.
