For students who are placed in programs where foreign language education is not compulsory and who want to receive Voluntary English Preparatory Education at our university, a limited number of students are accepted, sorted from high to low according to YKS score type.
In the 2024-2025 Academic Year, the quota has been determined by the decision taken by the Istanbul Medeniyet University School of Foreign Languages Board for students who are placed in programs where foreign language education and training is not compulsory and who want to receive Voluntary English Preparatory Education. According to the decision of the School of Foreign Languages Board, 2 quotas have been allocated for each faculty, provided that one person from each of the YKS score types (SAY, SÖZ and EA) can benefit. Accordingly, a quota for a total of 21 people has been determined, 3 for the "Faculty of Educational Sciences" which accepts students based on all three score types, and 2 for all other faculties that accept students according to one or two separate score types. If the applications are more than the determined number, students will be ranked from high to low, taking into account the relevant YKS score type of the program they are placed in, and the student with the highest score from each faculty according to the relevant score type will be accepted to the Voluntary English Preparatory Program within the determined quota. The faculty-based distribution of the Voluntary English Preparatory Class student quota determined for the 2024-2025 Academic Year is as shown in the table below:

Note: Students accepted to the optional English Preparatory Program within the determined quota will be announced on the School of Foreign Languages website, and these students will be required to take the English Placement Exam (DBS') to be held in the week of 02-06 September 2024 in order to be placed in the correct level group (A, B or C).
