The conference titled “Examination of Murder Cases with Prof. Dr. Çağlar Özdemir,” organized by the Development Law Club, one of our university's student communities, was held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 1:30 PM in the Conference Hall of the Ziraat Bank Library at Istanbul Medeniyet University. The conference, which was open to external participation, attracted great interest from many students and academics.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Çağlar Özdemir addressed the concepts of crime and criminal, explaining the procedures of autopsy, crime scene investigation, and morgue processes in criminal cases. Özdemir emphasized that for a peaceful society, the criminal justice system must operate effectively, and that these processes should be conducted with respect for fundamental rights and freedoms.
Having served as an expert witness in many high-profile murder cases, Özdemir shared these experiences with the participants through various visual materials (in compliance with data protection laws). Özdemir concluded his speech with a Q&A session with the participating students. The conference, held within the scope of professional education, provided an important educational environment where students could combine theory with practice.
