The Development Law Society, one of the student groups of Istanbul Civilization University, organized an event in the first part of the “Legal Film Analysis” event series where the award-winning 1966 film “Her Dever” was analyzed from a legal perspective. In the event held on December 17, 2024 at the Red Hall of the IMÜ Göztepe North Campus, our participating students discussed the legal themes and events in the film with the Head of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology of Law, Dr. Lecturer Muzaffer Dülger.
In the event where law and cinema met, participants watched the film, which deals with the legal struggle of a person for his personal beliefs within the scope of freedom of belief through the historical story of Sir Thomas More, and then analyzed the film from a legal perspective under the guidance of Dr. Lecturer Muzaffer Dülger. The analysis focused on various legal themes such as conscientious objection, positive law versus natural law, and the history of legal guarantees in the English common law tradition.
This event, in which our students analyzed a real historical case from a legal perspective, was a useful professional training that contributed to the career development of our Law School students.
